- From the Sentinel: Some 32 top diplomats, including six ambassadors, are visiting the UCSC campus today and Saturday, the only university campus they will stop at in a California tour. The diplomats will be guests in the home of UCSC faculty members or staff, and spent today with students on the campus. All are from foreign nations. They include the ambassadors from Dahomey [Benin], Guinea, Hungary, Laos, Kenya and Togo, and consul officials from Great Britain, Spain, South Africa, Egypt, Portugal, Sweden, Thailand, Denmark, Finland. Australia, Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, Bhutan, Yemen Arab Republic, Colombia, Mauritania, India, Algeria, Indonesia, Chile, Poland, Norway, Belgium and Malaysia, as well as a "Cuban Interests Section."
