Ohlone Indian burial ground excavation, by local archaeologists from Cabrillo College (Robert Edwards) and UC Santa Cruz (John M. Fritz): Rob Edwards (center, standing) with unidentified others
Description
From the Sentinel: Digging of foundations for a warehouse expansion at Berman Industrial Park on Lee Road uncovered the first remains... A team of local archeologists, both professional and amateur, was quickly brought together by Cabrillo's Rob Edwards for the dig near Watsonville... John Fritz, anthropologist with UCSC College V, said the specimens will be removed from foundation trenches already dug and from the path of others. They will be reburied according to the wishes of Ohlone descendants now living in the Pajaro Valley, who have been contacted by the archeologists.
