Clark, for a variety of suitable type fonts so that the press can be put into operation as soon as possible. "This press will become one of our most treasured possessions," he said. and From the Chancellor's Memo: An Acorn-Smith handpress, believed to be 135 years old, has been presented to the campus by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis M. Allen of Kentfield and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Burke of New York City. The press will be placed in the Special Collections Room of the University Library where it will be available to all members of the University community - faculty, librarians, students - interested in the fine arts of typography and book making. The press, with a 32 by 23 inch platen, was made about 1830 by Robert Hoe and Company, New York.
