Dr. Thimann, president of the international group, addressed the opening session Sunday night. The congress will close September 2. More than 4200 persons from the U.S., Europe, the Orient and the South Pacific who are interested in the plant sciences, are attending the congress, which is held every five years. The last assembly was in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1964.
