The mural titled "La Promesa de Loma Prieta: Que No Se Repita la Historia (The Promise of Loma Prieta: That History Not Repeat Itself)" is a huge (21-by-21 feet) vibrant image featuring the faces of Malcolm X, Maxine Hong Kingston, Frida Kahlo, Steven Biko and several other figures of world liberation movements. Alicia had worked with students from Oakes on the image that was meant to represent the college.
